Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is LVP?

A. LVP stands for luxary vinyl planks. You should no longer think of Grandma’s kitchen when vinyl is mentioned. LVP is one of the hottest flooring options on the market today. Available in a variety of colors and types LVP is made of a high density fiberboard core that is water proof and allows for easy installation and replacement. When installed by our professionals it is one of the most durable types of flooring available while also being trendy and affordable.

Q. Will pets, kids, or furnitures scratch my vinyl?

A. LVP comes with a wear layer to prevent scratching from day to day use. It is still a good idea to use felt furniture pads and keep pets trimmed to prolong the life of your floor. While not 100% scratch proof the wear layer should be able to keep up with the task of withstanding kids and pets in high traffic areas.

Q. Can LVP be installed over my existing floor?

A. It depends on what your existing floor is. LVP can be installed over a single layer of hardwood for example but not carpet. Our professionals will be able to tell you whether tear out will be required for your specific job.

Q. Should I install my LVP myself?

A. LVP is one of the quickest flooring types to install and requires very little special equipment. With that said it is still best to have a professional install your LVP to ensure it looks and lasts how you expect it to. Some warranties may also require specific criteria to be met which also makes a good case to have one of our flooring specialists take care of it.
